Catching Bream in the Cold Weather and the Hot Summer

Day 4: Where Bluegill Bream Go After Bedding Season

Editor’s Note: Few people fish for bluegills in the coldest winter and the hottest summer months in the South – except for the late Steve Pope of Centre, Alabama, who was a fishing guide at Guntersville and Weiss lakes in north Alabama.

By the end of June in the South, many of the larger bluegills had left the riprap and the bridge pilings and moved-out to their deep-water haunts where they would spend the summer, the fall and the winter. Then they'd migrate back into shallow water to spawn.
