John's Journal... Entry 13 - Day 5

Click to enlargeWHICH PLACES WELCOME WOMEN HUNTERS

EDITOR'S NOTE: Mrs. Brenda Valentine of Buchanan, Tennessee, enjoys serving on all the professional hunt teams she's a member of, including Browning, Bass Pro Shops, Realtree and Goretex.

Click to enlargeMore and more hunting lodges and camps are opening their doors to women. One of my favorite hunting camps is White Oak Plantation in Tuskegee, Alabama. This lodge is very pro-woman. They even have a Bows and Does Hunt, which is an all-women's bowhunt. At this hunt, women can learn to shoot a bow and be in camp with other women who enjoy the sport of bowhunting. White Oak also has accommodations for women during Alabama's gun deer season and turkey season. A woman never will feel out of place at White Oak.

Timber View Lodge near Meridian, Mississippi, operated by Ike and Betty Hopper, is also a woman-friendly hunting lodge. I recommend for any woman to investigate this lodge and consider hunting there.

Click to enlargeTara Wildlife on the Mississippi, Louisiana border near Vicksburg, Mississippi, hosts a women's-only hunt in November. These folks are really glad to see women bowhunters come and will do everything they can to make sure your stay is enjoyable.

I have a list of women-friendly lodges and outfitters that I'll be happy to send you if you'll e-mail me and ask for the list or write me. Many lodges around the nation are starting to become more women-friendly. There's no reason not to go hunting and enjoy it. If I can ever help you and or your children, please feel free to call on me. I've enjoyed being with you this week.

You can write Brenda Valentine at P.O. Box 31, Buchanan, TN 38222 or email her at breval@wk.net
