The Weather Man Will Lie – Well, Maybe Just Not Tell the Whole Truth – But You Still Can Catch Plenty of Fish

Day 5: Awesome Winter Fishing for Free at Alabama’s Gulf Coast with Captain Randy Boggs

Click for larger ViewClick for larger ViewOne of the advantages of fishing the Gulf of Mexico in the southeastern part of the country is that this section of the nation has mild climates that produce great fishing all year long, especially in the winter months. Often the winter months are the best time to go fishing in the Gulf of Mexico because they have had little or no fishing pressure. You can find inexpensive rates, and often you can catch more fish than you can in the spring or the summer.

Captain Randy Boggs of the Reel Surprise Charter Fleet out of SanRoc Cay Marina has a fishing program set-up for anglers, so that the people who fish with him have some great incentives to fish through the winter. “Starting on January 1st, we have a special fishing program for the folks who come to the Alabama Gulf Coast to fish during the winter months,” Boggs explains. “Our normal 6-hour trip on our party boat is $85 per person. Starting January 1st, you can take that same trip for $65 per person. Click for larger ViewToo, be sure to ask for our frequent fisherman punch card. Your first trip costs $65 for a 6-hour trip, your second trip is $65, your third trip is only $50, and your fourth trip is free.” During the winter months, the first 2 trips will be about a 20-percent discount per trip, the third is even more of a discount, and the fourth trip is free. This program starts the first of January and will continue to March 15th. Click for Larger ViewThe cards are also valid from year to year. If you go on two trips in 2013, each of those 6-hour deep-sea fishing trips will cost you $65, but if you go two more times in the winter of 2014, the first trip will cost $50, and the next trip will be free.
