"My favorite time to hunt in the early bow season is mid-morning and mid-afternoon," Larry Norton of Pennington, Alabama, said. "I define mid-morning from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. and mid-afternoon from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. I've kept a log most of my life of every hunt I go on. From studying my log, I can see that I have taken the most bucks in the mid-morning and mid-afternoon on or around the times that I mentioned. These times only seem to be effective during the early bow season before the deer experience a lot of hunting pressure.

This is the reason I believe these two times are the best times for a bowhunter to be in a deer stand over a food source. As the weather gets cooler, and as hunting pressure builds up, the deer will change their feeding pattern."
