Click to EnlargeLake Purdy, near Birmingham, Alabama, between Highway 280 and Leeds, Alabama, not only holds great bass, bream and crappie fishing, it holds your drinking water. If you live in central Alabama, you need to visit Lake Purdy. This is one of the few lakes left in the state where you can rent a boat, motor, trolling motor and depthfinder and go fishing. The good new is you can also eat the fish you catch at Click to EnlargePurdy, because the water is so clean and pure. Purdy is a fun place to fish because you can fish from the bank or a rental boat. The lake has plenty of big crappie that hold on underwater brush that has been planted in the laked over the years. To learn more about Lake Purdy call 205-991-9107.

Also contact Riley Smith, Director of Click to EnlargeAlabama's Department of Conservation at 334-242-3486 and the governor at 334-242-7100. Ask for their help in having the land around the lake bought by the Forever Wild Foundation. If this land is kept forever wild, we can and awill protect the drinking water of many central Alabama residents.
